Meridian explores structure, balance, and interruption through a deliberately restrained palette of saturated cobalt blue, luminous white, and narrow bands of black. Unlike the more fluid, swirling compositions of much of the Chromatic Series, this vessel organizes color into broad horizontal fields, giving the piece an almost architectural presence.
The cobalt sections possess subtle variations of density and movement beneath their seemingly uniform surfaces—evidence of glass that has been worked and formed by hand rather than simply applied as flat bands of color. Between them, the central field of white creates a luminous visual pause, while thin black boundaries sharply define the transition from one region to the next.
Viewed from above, the composition changes completely. The linear geometry of the exterior resolves into concentric circles, revealing how each band continues uninterrupted around the vessel. What appears rectilinear from the side becomes radial from above, allowing the same construction to express two different geometries depending upon the viewer's perspective.
